The Tasmanian Salmonid Growers Association (TSGA) is a non-profit industry peak body providing support to Tasmanian salmon and trout growers representing their interests in the largest fisheries sector in Australia and the largest agricultural sector in Tasmania. Not only recognised as the peak body for the salmon industry the TSGA is highly regarded locally, nationally and internationally by f aquaculture and fisheries industry bodies and all levels of government.
This is a significant leadership position with an opportunity to help shape the region and Tasmanian/Australian economy for years to come. The TSGA Board seek an experienced executive who will actively build and maintain close cohesive relationships, working in partnership with salmonoid growers, suppliers, government, regulatory authorities, industry groups, and local communities including regional councils.
Reporting to the Chairman and TSGA Board, you will have primary responsibility for ensuring the TSGA is the leading public policy advocate for its members. You will bring strong commercial acumen, the capacity to engage with and utilise the media as the principal spokesperson for member organisations, and a sound comprehension of the economy and knowledge of the workings of government are key requirements.
With exceptional communication skills, outstanding public relations, media and stakeholder engagement, and strong political awareness, you will adopt an objective and apolitical stance. Whist highly regarded, prior exposure working in a member based industry association, and industry and scientific knowledge, is not essential.
